14 SCRIPTS SUBMITTED
FOR MMFFP 1ST BATCH
A total of fourteen
screenplays were submitted to the
executive committee of the 2007 Metropolitan
Manila Film Festival-Philippines to
vie for the six slots for films to
be shown beginning December 25 this
year. Producers have up to June 18
to submit their screenplay entries
for the second batch of three films
which will start showing on January
1, 2008.
The 14 scripts were submitted last
May 18, the deadline for the submission
of entries for the six films to be
included in the December 25 batch.
The winning screenplays of the six
entries for the Dec. 25 showing will
be announced on June 8 while the three
winning entries for the January 1
showing will be announced on June
28.
The 14 submitted screenplays

Last year, the Metro
Filmfest started showing nine films
simultaneously on Christmas Day. There
was an obvious decline in the box-office
during the second week of the filmfest
starting on New Year’s Day.
This was the main reason that the
executive committee decided to break
up the films into two batches.
The Metropolitan Manila
Development Authority is hereby reminding
producers of these pertinent deadlines
and dates:
June 18 (Mon),
5 p.m.—Deadline for
the submission of notarized
application forms and screenplays
for the 2nd batch
Up to June 8—Reading
and selection of all the screenplays
submitted
for the first batch
June 18 to June
28—Reading and selection
of all the screenplays
submitted for the 2nd batch
June 8 (Fri)—Announcement
of official entries for the 1st batch
June 28 (Thur)—Announcement
of official entries for the 2nd batch
November 20
(Tue)—Deadline of submission
of trailers of official entries.
December 3 (Mon)—Deadline
of submission of finished film entries
of
the 1st batch (Dec. 25 showing).
December 10
(Mon)—Deadline of submission
of finished film entries of
the 2nd batch (Jan.1 showing).
Deadline of submission
of graded (timed) prints of entries
for the 1st batch.
December 17
(Mon)—Deadline of submission
of graded (timed) prints
of entries for the 2nd batch.
Submission of joint
certfications with laboratories concerned
that prints needed to service the
theaters assigned to them shall be
made available on time.
Submission of changes in the filmography
charts, such as names of the leading
performers and film genres.
December 17-21—Screening
of the official entries by the Board
of Jurors.
December 24—Parade
of Stars in Metro Manila.
December 25,
2007 to January 7, 2008—Showing
of official entries with first batch
opening on Dec. 25 and second batch
opening on January 1.
