MMFFP 2006 BREACHES P400 MILLION MARK

Unofficial reports based on theater FAX reports submitted to the booking committee of the Metropolitan Manila Film Festival Philippines 2006 showed that for the first time in its 32-year history, the MMFFP grossed more than P400 million in its two-week run.

The total gross for this year’s filmfest was P414,506,353—P63 million more than the total gross receipts of MMFFP 2005. Metro Manila theaters accounted for P302,708,946 while provincial grosses totaled P111,797,407

Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo of Star Cinema overtook OctoArts Films’ Enteng Kabisote 3 during the second week of the 14-day filmfest.

The final gross takes of the nine film entries are:

MMFFP officials opined that the possibility of hitting the P500 million mark will be achieved within the next three or four years or earlier if the film piracy problem will be solved as early as possible.
