CINEMALAYA
2007 FINALISTS
Twenty-five
storylines and concepts were culled
from a total of some 240 entries to
the 2007 Cinemalaya digital film competition.
These stories will now be written
into scripts for submission on November
17 with the ten final entries to be
announced in December 15.
The ten final entries
will each win a P500,000 seed production
grant from ABC Channel 5 owner Tonyboy
Cojuangco.
The 25 stories selected

Ang Biyahe:
Pasadang Langit by Abdulmari
Imao Jr.
At Nilikha ng
Diyos si Hilario Espiritusanto
by Reggie Gulle, a Roadrunner editor
and short filmmaker.
Broken Chords
by Alexis Amario.
Endo
by Jude Castro, the scriptwriter of
the recent Star Cinema movie First
Day High.
Fidel
by Charlotte Averiz & Gale Diangco.
Gima
by Adolf Alix Jr., top prize winner
of the Film Development Council of
the Philippines’ national scriptwriting
contest when he was only 17 years
old and who directed Donsol for Cinemalaya
2006.
Gulong
by Jeanne Lim who garnered a Palanca
award for playwriting for a work which
was modified into a film plot for
the Cinemalaya competition for proponents
Romualdo and Anna Liza Fajardo.
Hagulgol ng
Balangiga by Anril Tiatco.
Hubad
by Rody Vera, who penned the screenplay
for the full-length mainstream film
Sisid. His co-proponent for this entry
is Denisa Reyes, a noted choreographer.
Kung Giun sa
Pagbuhat ang Binisayang Law-uy
by Charliebebs Cohetia, an editor
and short indie filmmaker.
Ligaw Liham
by Jay Abello, an assistant director
for TV and films.
Mga Ina, Mga
Anak by Reynaldo Manalo,
another FDCP screenwriting finalist.
His entry will be directed by Rito
Asilo, associate artistic director
of the New Voice Theater Company.
Pag-guhit ng
Bilog by Paul Morales, a
choreographer who has been involved
in short and indie filmmaking.
Pagluha ng Talon
by John Nepomuceno, director of commercials
and projects for NGOs and other organizations.
Pisay
by Aureaus Solito, who directed Ang
Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros which
has won numerous awards here and in
filmfests abroad.
Puerto
by Noel Mendoza.
Sa Gawing Dito,
Tabingi ang Mundo by Joel
Ruiz, who directed Mansyon, the best
short film winner in Cinemalaya 2005.
Sa Wakas, ang
Simula by Andrea Anfela Shy.
Sinungaling
ang Buwan by Ed Lejano Jr.,
who teaches film and has made a full-length
for Regal Entertainment Inc.
Still Life
by Katrina Flores.
Tatay na si
Totoy by Ronald Mangubat,
a finalist in the FDCP’s screenwriting
competition.
Tribu
by Jun Libiran, a short filmmaker.
Tukso
by Dennis Marasigan,a theater actor-writer-director
who directed the full-length film
Sa North Diversion Road and the incoming
artistic director of the CCP’s
Tanghalang Pilipino.
