Acting came at an early age to Gina Alajar. Where children her age were playing tag and make-believe, Gina at 4 years old was busily emoting her child’s heart in front of film cameras in shooting barns and locations. Her first brush with stardom was with Lea Productions, one of the pioneer film production companies at that time. The movie: Ang Kaibigan Kong Sto. Nino.

Since then, there was no turning back for Gina. She grew up hand in hand with the craft, tackling support and eventually lead roles with the best film directors in the Philippine film industry. To date, she has made over 70 full length films, her more notes ones being Salome, Brutal, Kapit Sa Patalim, Biktima, Andrea, Paano Ang Maging Ina and Mulanay. Her experience and her deep understanding of her work earned her acting awards both in cinema and television. In 1982, she added another dimension to her acting career – she ventured into theater. Gina appeared in several stage presentations notably Bangag, Amanda, Ang Misteryo ng Pumpon ng Rosas and Larawan.

At present Gina is still working on choice film projects but is equally busy with appearance in television’s drama anthologies, sitcom, telenovelas and mini-series. She also spends time teaching in acting workshops of the Actors Workshop Foundation. One of her present preoccupation is directing anthologies and soap operas for television like Del Tierro and Kirara.

Gina’s love for acting encompasses all,even family life. Her three sons, Ryan, Jeffrey and AJ have all followed her footsteps career-wise. All three are actors of note.
