Graduating Cum Laude in Psychology at St. Louis University in 1989, Baguio City, Lucas opted to make a complete turn around and enrolled at the UP College of Music (1990) majoring in composition under the tutelage of maestros Ryan Cayabyab and Josefino Toledo.

Since then, his original works, ranging from classical to pop to film to TV and theater, have garnered him both acclaim and respect from critics and his colleagues in the music business. Lucas shifts from one musical genre to the other with such fluid ease and produces work with the same level of intensity, quality, passion, and consistency.

He has worked with several theater companies as music composer, among them CCP’s Tanghalang Pilipino, Musical Theater Philippines, Dulaang UP, Dramatis Personae and Gantimpala Theater Foundation. His original musicals like ANG PAGPATAY KAY LUNA and AGUINALDO 1898 (for Tanghalang Pilipino) were hailed for their musical excellence, with LUNA being hailed as the Best Musical in the 2002 Aliw Awards. In 2003, he composed the music of the critically acclaimed staging of the dance/musical version of DARNA of Ballet Philippines at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

His film music have won him various awards and citations from the most respected critics, as BEST MUSIC SCORE namely from the Young Critics Circle, the FAMAS, Star Awards for Movies and the GAWAD URIAN. His film music for the film The Echo (SIGAW) won the Best Music Score Award at the 2005 Los Angeles SCREAMFEST International Film Festival.
