The new board of directors of the Screenwriters Guild of the Philippines has welcomed 11 new guild members during its recruitment drive as early as March this year.

The SGP held a welcome and getting to know you meeting at the Mowelfund compound in Cubao, Quezon City which was held from
1 to 5 pm.

The new members included Keem Biton, Roberto Reyes Ang, Raymond Diamzon, Ressie “Sure” Manuel, Erin Pena, Gabby Labastida Jr., Damaso “Dan” Liwanag, Jonea Marie Manlangit, Ezzer Perez, Rainier Pamintuan and Donnie Sacueza.

New SGP President Moises Anthony ‘Eseng’ Cruz and his board of directors were visibly pleased with the infusion of new blood to the guild. He even told an officer of the Film Academy of the Philippines: “Natutuwa kami na nakakita kami ng mga indibidwal na malaki ang pagmamahal sa industriya, sana ay yumabong pa nang husto ang kanilang pagsusulat ng mga obra sa tulong ng SGP.”

The SGP officers justified their move to infuse new blood to the guild to invite new and original concepts on film scriptwriting through their new members. With their millennial experiences and skills, the new officers expressed the hope that the new members will be coming up with innovative screenplays for our films.

“ We had a very good harvest on our first attempt,” said Palanca Award winner and SGP adviser Omer Almenario. “Maaring bago sila sa SGP, ngunit sila ay may mga pinanggalingan ng iba’t-ibang larangan sa industriya ng entertainment.” added Hernan Robles, a member of the new board of Directors of the SGP.

“Matatandaang marami sa mga sikat na pangalan ngayon sa industriya ng Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon pagdating sa scriptwriting ay nagmula sa SGP. Magkakaroon kaming muli ng ganitong klaseng pagkikita-kita. Sa mga interesado, mag fill up lamang sila sa aming online registration at antabayanan ang aming FB Page para sa mga bagong announcements,” new SGP Vice President Benjie Corpuz explained.
