The winners in the recent QCinema International Film Festival Awards received their awards last Wednesday, October 19, at the QCX museum.
This year’s filmfest featured seven full-length films in the Circle Competition, eight short films in the #QCShorts Category and six films in the Asian Next Wave.
This was the fourth QCinema Film Festival which had the theme One City One World. It was held from October 13 to22 at the cinemas of Ayala Trinoma, Gateway, Robinson’s Galleria and UP Town Center.
The winners were, as follows:
Circle Competition Best Film: Women of the Weeping River by Sheron Dayoc
QC Shorts Best Film: Hondo by Aedrian Araojo
Asian Next Wave Best Film: The Apprentice by Boo Junfeng (Singapore)
Audience Choice Award (Feature Film): Patay na si Hesus by Victor Villanueva
Audience Choice Award (Short Film): Contestant #4 by Joshua Joven and Kaj Palanca
Gender Sensitivity Award: Patay na si Hesus
NETPAC Jury Prize for Best Film: Baboy Halas by Bagane Fiola
Jury Prize (QCShorts): Papa’s Shadow by Inshallah Montero
Special Citation (Asia Next Wave): By the Time It Gets Dark by Anocha Suwichakornpong (Thailand)
Best Director: Prime Cruz (Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B)
Best Actor: JC de Vera (Best, Partee. Ever)
Best Actress: Laila Ulao (Women of the Weeping River)
Best Supporting Actor: Taha Daranda (Women of the Weeping River)
Best Supporting Actress: Vangie Labalan (Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B)
Best Screenplay: Joseph Laban and Denise O’Hara (Purgatoryo)
Best Artistic Contribution: Cinematography (Baboy Halas)
