Director General Leo G. Martinez met with newly appointed Optical Media Board (OMB) Chairman Anselmo B. Adriano at the OMB offices in Scout Limbaga St., Barangay Laging Handa, Q.C. last April 8.
The two heads agreed to explore values-oriented programs like the ongoing Sinewikain and Pride Campaign projects which aim to produce short films on Filipino proverbs and video projects on interesting cultural realities, tourist attractions and unsung heroes whom the country can be proud of.
Chairman Adriano assumed his position on March 14, 2016. During the turnover ceremonies. Adriano paid homage to his predecessors in the OMB for their various programs, innovations and reform measures instituted over the years, that resulted in the exclusion of the Philippines in the USPTR watch list.
Adriano, a lawyer, was a former Director of the Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau (CPAB) of the Department of Trade and Industry.
Adriano vowed it will be full speed ahead for the OMB.
“We shall embark on a 3-year roadmap that shall be anchored on three major programs:
(1) the institutionalization of a comprehensive performance management system;
(2) the immediate review of the OMB charter, related laws, and their derivative circulars to propose possible amendments and be attuned to the latest technological advancements; and
(3) the intensification of the campaign against violations of RA 9239 and related laws, particularly the Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 (RA 9775), in the areas of enforcement, licensing, and advocacy.
