With a face that resembles Angel Locsin’s and with her good voice, Glaiza de Castro felt optimistic that a good break is just a stone’s throw away. She did not have to wait long. GMA-7 cast her in the role of Sarah in Kaputol ng Isang Awit, a hit movie na pinagbidahan nila Sharon Cuneta at Gary Valenciano noong 1991. The TV remake stars, aside from Glaiza, Lovi Poe as Glaiza’s sister, Marky Cielo (as Eric) who discovered the potential of Sarah (Glaiza) and Jolo Revilla (as Marco).
In the film version, Sarah had a brother instead of a sister. Pero para mas magkaroon ng conflict with the plot ay ginawa itong babae. Nagsimula nang ipalabas ang Kaputol ng Isang Awit noong March 3, 2007 as a part of Dramarama sa Hapon.
According to Glaiza hindi siya nahirapan na maka-relate with the character of Sarah dahil hilig nya ang pagkanta. Just like Marian Rivera ay pinapanood niya ang original movie for the sake of knowing the character she will portray. She’s afraid na baka ma-disappoint nya ang kanyang fans as well as the fans of Sharon Cuneta. But her fear vanished when Kaputol ng Isang Awit was off to a good start with the rating of 20.2 % on its debut.
Glamorous Glaiza de Castro during the 22nd LUNA Awards Night
Glaiza Galura in real life was born on January 21, 1988. She was only nine years old when she first joined a stage play and earned a best actress award. The award she got from a stage play in school stirred her interest in acting as well as performing in public.
Glaiza was first discovered when she entered the audition for a Viva Films project but Regal Entertainment Inc. was the outfit which offered her a contract. Her first movie appearance was in Cool Dudes in 2001 at sinundan ito agad ng Singsing ni Lola. She eventually won the New Movie Actress Award of the 18th Star Awards for Movies that same year.
Dahil may angking galing, nagkasunod-sunod na ang movie offers. She appeared in Miss Pinoy in 2005, Sukob, Manay Po, Pacquiao The Movie, White Lady, Twilight Dancers and Zsa-Zsa Zaturnah in 2006. She then appeared in an indie movie, Still Life, in the lead role and Batanes in 2007.
Glaiza also already endorsed such products as Bunny Jeans, Zest Bath Soap, Carnation Milk, Touch Mobile. And she even appeared in T.V commercials like Jollibee and Zest. She is a former member of ABS-CBN’s circle: Star Magic.
Kaya naman nakita natin sya sa ibat-ibang shows known for her roles in Asian Treasures, Fantastikids, Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang and Boys Nxt Door. Take note that every Sunday in SOP eh makikita rin natin sya na kumakanta.
She considers Kaputol Ng Isang Awit as her biggest break where she plays the lead role. Kapag nagkataon sya na ang next GMA-7′s Drama Princess after Yasmien Kurdi and Nadine Samonte.
Alam nyo bang ang XAX (pronounced as eg-za) Music Entertainment, a new recording company which is owned by a Japanese-Filipino launched and promoted her as a recording artist. At the age of 13 she had her debut album entitled Magbalik Ka under XAX.
After five years ay na-released ang second album nya under Dyna Music. The carrier single of her latest album is Paano. All songs are original except for the tagalog version of How Can I Make You See ni Joey Albert and the English version of Dingdong Avanzado’s Basta’t Kasama Kita. Her album includes the tracks Ligaw Tingin, Sana, Ikaw Lamang ang Gwapo, As Long as I Am With You, Sinabi Mo Sa Akin, Sayang Lang, Paano, Hold You Once Again, Someone, How Can I Make You See, and Teka Lang. She will also appear in Now and Forever under the direction of Rahyan Carlos which is now in production. Ilan sa mga co-stars niya sina John Prats, Lovi Poe, Aljur Abrenica, Jewel Mische, Kris Bernal, Jenica Garcia, Prince Stefan and Mart Escudero
No doubt if she would be considered as most promising star, she has the look, the voice and the guts. She attended an acting workshop under George Vail Kabrisante and took voice lessons in the Center for Pop Music Philippines.
