The winners in the teachers’ and students’ categories of the 2016 most gender sensitive film essay writing contest during the last Metro Manila Film Festival were announced recently.
The winners in the teachers’ category are:
First prize: Not a Brand of Indifference (based on Beauty and the
Bestie) by Francis Clare B. Baltazar of Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo High School
Second prize: Idolatry of Egocentric Pride: Wrath of Relationship
(based on Walang Forever) by Joan C. Soriano of Judge Feliciano Belmonte Sr. High School
Third prize: Walang Forever sa Isyu ng Gender (based on Walang
Forever) by Ernesto D. Ferrer Jr. of Sergio Osmena Sr. High
The winners in the students’ category are:
First prize: Breaking Chains of Limitations (based on Walang
Forever) by Geline Despibiladeras of Sergio Osmena Sr. High
Second prize: A Simple LGBT Talk: On Beauty and the Bestie (based
on Beauty and the Bestie) by Coleene T. Villanueva of Quezon
City High School
Third prize: May Forever sa Bawat Isa (based on Walang Forever)
by Andrei R. Alimboyao of Sergio Osmena Sr. High School
The winners received their prizes during the flag raising ceremonies at the QC City Hall on March 28, Monday.
The board of judges included Estrella Merta, consultant at the office of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte; Romina B. Almazan, associate professor of the UP College of Education; Corazon S. Quizon, Values Supervisor of the QC DepEd; Atty. Rey Q. Espina , chairperson of the GAD Council technical working group; and film Director Jose N. Carreon.
