The Film Academy of the Philippines will receive P500,000 as financial assistance from the Film Development Council of the Philippines for the holding of the 33rd FAP Luna Awards.
The FAP subsidy was one of several financial assistance and fund allocation requests approved by the FDCP during its board meeting last January 29, 2015.
The others included:
a. Financial assistance to Mr. Kidlat Tahimik for the participation of his film Balikbayan #1 in the Berlinale 2015, in the amount of not more than P250,000;
b. Allocation of funds in the amount of P2 million for a co-production project with Star Cinema and Mothership for a film project starring Mr. John Lloyd Cruz;
c. Allocation of funds in the amount of P2 million for a co-production project with Global Motion Pictures, Inc., a Japanese-Filipino company, to be directed by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, the FDCP’s first international co-production project;
d. Financial assistance to the ARMM Bureau of Cultural Heritage for the production of the film Moro2mrw in the amount of P250,000 provided that the finished film must conform with the principles of national sovereignty and with the government’s thrust in the peace process in the region.
Regarding the 33rd FAP Luna Awards, the citers for the different categories have been informed to submit their ten best list of film accomplishment s in 2014 which will be forwarded to the nominators who will draw up the final nominees in the different categories.
The 32nd FAP Luna Awards which should have recognize the film accomplishment for the year 2013 was not held last year and the winners will be presented their trophies during the 33rd FAP Luna Awards.
