The winners in the 2013 Metro Manila Filmfest Gender Equality Essay Writing contest will receive their cash prizes during the flag ceremony at Quezon City in the early morning of Monday, March 31.

This was announced by Ms. Ruby Palma, head of the Quezon City Gender and Development Resource and Coordinating Office (GADRCO).

Anna Fajardo of GADRCO, said the following winners will be honored during the flag raising ceremonies:

Teachers’ category
First prize (P10,000)
Hurray for Today by Mary Ann F. Gabito
Novaliches High School

Second prize (P7,000)
Panahon Na ni Cesario Britanico
Maligaya High School

Third prize (P5,000)
Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy: Isang Pangangahas na Bigyan ng Pantay na Papel at Kontribusyon sa Pamilya at Lipunan ang Iba’t Ibang Sekswalidad ni Ernesto D. Ferrer Jr.
Sergio Osmena Sr. High School

Students’ category

First prize (P10,000)
Apat na Mundo ni Mariella Anne P. Nicolas
Novaliches High School

Second prize (P7,000)
Echoes of Sexes by Joan S. Galvan

Third prize (P5,000)

The judges for the essay writing contest included Adelina A. Sebastian; Estrella C. Merca, education supervisor of DepEd Q.C.; Freddie Avendano; Liberty Roxas, legal officer, DepEd Q.C.; Jose N. Carreon, Film Academy of the Philippines; Romina P. Beltran, principal, Britesparks International School; and Estrelita Marasigan, Supervisor Values.

The FAP website has already published the third prize winners last week and is running the second prize winners in the two categories this week. The series of winners ends next week with the two first prize winners.
