Ten members from each of the 12 guilds under the umbrella of the Film Academy of the Philippines have been invited to attend the three-day workshop on “Movie Production for Digital Migration” to be held from June 28 to 30 at the SM North The Block Cinema.
The workshop-seminar is a joint undertaking of the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, the National Cinema Association of the Philippines (NCAP), the Multimedia Entertainment Arts Foundation Inc. (MEA) and the Star Media Entertainment Inc. (SMIE).
MEA President Tony Reyes has sent the invitation letters to the presidents of the various working guilds of the Academy.
These include the MOWELFUND, the Prodyuser ng mga Pelikulang Pilipino sa Asya, Inc. (PMPPA), the Motion Picture Producers Distributors Association of the Philippines (MPDAP), the Kapisanan ng mga Artistang Pilipino sa Pelikula at Telebisyon KAPPT), the Philippine Motion Picture Directors Association, the Screenwriters Guild of the Philippines (SGP); the Filipino Society of Cinematographers; the United Film Editors Guild of the Philippines; the Production Designers Guild of the Philippines, the United Film Musical Directors Association of the Philippines, the Motion Picture Audio Society of the Philippines, Inc. (MPASPI) and the Assistant Directors and Production Managers Association for Motion Pictures, Inc.
Reyes said the target seminar participants include film practitioners, producers, exhibitors, educators and film students. Several foreign and local experts will be the resource speakers during the workshop.
In his letter to the guild presidents, Reyes stressed that the seminar workshop “aims to raise awareness and educate film industry professionals on evolving workflows of digital cinema production.”
His letter further explained: “With the full integration of digital projectors in all cinemas in the Philippines, the need to understand the complexities of digital creation and distribution has become more crucial in creating a system that will minimize complications and facilitate a smoother workflow.”
