Mandaluyong City recently turned over to the Film Academy of the Philippines the 20 percent tax share on the 25-centavo Cultural Development Tax collected by movie houses for the years 2011 and 2012.

The amount of the FAP share collected from Caloocan cinema houses amounted to P114,052.60 for 2011 and P118,735.40 for 2012.

Since 2008, Quezon City, Makati, Manila, Pasay and Caloocan regularly sent checks to the Academy for its share of the cultural tax, even as early as 1992.

The Academy had so far received P17,562,319.17 to cover the years 1992 to 2012.

The breakdown of the amounts of the Academy share received by the FAP is as follows:

Manila (1992-2011)—P2,744,747.78
Makati City (1992-2011)—P4,798,345.02
Quezon City (1998-2011)—P8,725,102.48
Mandaluyong (2008-2012)—P586,328.49
Pasay City (2010-2011)—P743,271.05
Caloocan (1999-2011)—P197,312.35
