MOST GENDER SENSITIVE FILM ESSAY CONTEST by fapweb  |  Posted in Articles  |  on Fri, Feb 1, 2013

High school students and teachers have until February 7 to submit their entries to the most gender sensitive film of the 2012 Metropolitan Manila Film Festival essay-writing contest.

Like last year, the contest will be divided into two categories: for high school students and for high school teachers.

The essays will necessarily focus on the gender sensitive elements in any of the eight film entries during the last film festival. Thy Womb, a film directed by Brillante Mendoza and starring Nora Aunor, Bembol Roco and Lovi Poe, was awarded the Most Gender Sensitive trophy. But contest submissions will not be limited to Thy Womb.

The other film entries in the last MMFFP were El Presidente, One More Try, Shake, Rattle & Roll 14, Si Agimat, si Enteng Kabisote at si Ako, Sisterakas, Sossy Problems and The Strangers.

Secondary schools in Quezon City may submit one entry for each category. Last year’s winners in the two categories were Jaylor G. Fajardo, a teacher of Judge Feliciano Belmonte Senior High School, and Kobee Louwyn C. Tiongson, a student of Lagro High School. Both winning essays dealt on the film My House-husband (Ikaw Na!), directed by Jose Javier Reyes and starring Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo.

The essay-writing contest is jointly sponsored by the Gender and Development Resource and Coordinating Office, the Office of the Vice-Mayor of Quezon City and the Division of City Schools (Q.C.).

The cash awards for both categories are as follows: first place—P10,000 each; second place—P7,000 each; and third place—P5,000 each.

Entries must be submitted on or before February 7 to any of the following offices:
