The board of governors of the Film Academy of the Philippines has approved the application of the Stunt Directors Fight Instructors Guild of the Philippines (SDFIGP) to be under the umbrella of the academy.
The new guild which has been issued a certificate of incorporation by the Securities and Exchange Commission last September 4, 2012 has been affiliated with the Philippine Motion Picture Directors Association headed by Director William Mayo.
In a letter addressed to FAP Director-General Leo G, Martinez, SDFIGP Chairman Ralphe V. Roxas explains that the new guild is composed of action directors and routine instructors in both television and films.
Aside from Roxas, the other officers of the new guild include Rudy Ramirez, vice-chairman; John Lapid, president; and Jhapset Bahian, vice-president.
In his letter, Roxas specifically explained that only membership in the academy will legitimize the existence of their guild as they are wiling to abide by the FAP programs and policies to develop the local film and television industry.
