A three-man board of jurors—composed of Isagani R. Cruz, Jose F. Lacaba and Jose N. Carreon—is expected to choose five to seven adaptations of short stories in both English and Tagalog from 19 entries submitted for the contest.
The winning scripts will adapted into at least two film trilogies.
The submissions included the following:
–Five scripts for Sandaang Damit ni Fanny A. Garcia
–Three scripts for the Virgin by Kerima Polotan
–Two scripts for Utos ng Hari ni Jun Cruz Reyes
–Two scripts for Bangkang Papel ni Genoveva Edroza-Matute
–Two scripts for Tata Selo ni Rogelio Sicat

–A script for Faith, Love and Dr. Lazaro by Gregorio Brillantes
–A script for The Mats by Francisco Arcellana

The five to seven screenplays to be selected by the board of judges will each receive P20,000.00 (subject to withholding taxes). The winning scriptwriters, however, will still receive talent fees as scriptwriters during the production of the Sine Panitik film trilogies.
