The Tashkent International Film Forum is seeking the assistance of the Film Academy of the Philippines for the possible participation of Filipino films in its second film forum to be held on September 30 to October 5, 2012.
In a letter sent to FAP Director General Leo G. Martinez, Hurshid Kurbonov, the film forum project manager—in behalf of General Director Akbar Khakimov—expressed their intention to include “some interesting films from the Philippines to be represented at our Film Forum.”
Kurbonov said that films should be made between 2011 and 2012 and should not be older than two years.
The Second Tashkent Film Forum ‘Golden Guepard’ is organized by the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation in partnership with Uzbekkino National Agency.
The Second Film Forum’s agenda will include competition-based and non-competition based retrospectives of full-length films, short films and animated films. Aside from the film exhibitions, the event will also feature master classes, conferences and round table discussions.
The closing ceremony of the Film Forum will be held as part of Art Week Style.Uz, an annual major event which comprises national and international catwalk shows, presentations, master classes, artistic and fashion exhibitions, young designers’ contests and concerts by world-famous entertainers.
Kurbonow wrote in his letter: “The Week is aimed at developing international cooperation in the arts, establishing new alliances amongst culture and art professionals, and supporting creative personalities. It has been supported by major national and international organizations such as UNESCO and the British Council.
The First Tashkent Film Forum kicked off on October 19, 2011 with as many as 300 entries—139 features, 87 short films and 74 animated films from nearly 40 countries.
