More than 30 Actors’ Guild celebrity members will figure in a weekend sports tournament where they will pit athletic prowess and talent against their counterparts from the SBMA.
The sportsfest is scheduled on Saturday and Sunday (May 27 and 28) at the Subic Bay Sports Center in Olongapo. Three sports will hug the limelight—badminton, basketball and volleyball.
The project, a joint endeavor of Actors’ Guild President Jeorge (E.R. Ejercito) Estregan, Pagsanjan (Laguna) mayor, SBMA Chairman Feliciano Salonga and SBMA Adminstrator and CEO Armand Arreza.
Badminton games will be held on Saturday, starting at 4 p.m., while the basketball and volleyball games are scheduled on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m.
Mayor Estregan assured that all is set for the celebrity challenge between the Actors’ Guild and the Subic Bay Smashers which aims to promote unity and camaraderie among members of the guild of local actors and actresses.
The two-day event is sponsored by PAGCOR, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Kimoni, San Miguel Corporation and Globe telecom.
Meanwhile, the organizing committee of the 4th Bali International Film festival (BIFFest) 2006 has extended an invitation for Filipino filmmakers and film producers to join the filmfest which is scheduled on December 12 to 26 in Bali, Indonesia.
The Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs sent the invitation through FAP Director General Leo G. Martinez.
Interested participants are requested to submit their entries in VCD or DVD format in their original language with English subtitles on or before November 1, 2006. Participation will be free of charge.
The DFA requested the Film Academy to disseminate this invitation to possible participants who are advised to communicate directly with the organizers.
