The Film Development Council of the Philippines will stage the first ever International Film Expo (IFX) in the country on June 26 to 28 in Davao City in cooperation with the City of Davao and the Davao Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Billed as Davao IFX 2012, it will be held at the Marco Polo Hotel simultaneously with the Davao Film Festival, also organized by FDCP, which will showcase the winners of the First National Film Competition which was inaugurated in September last year.
Davao IFX 2012 will be attended by officials and leaders from local govern-ment units, representatives from foreign embassies, filmmakers, as well as key officials from broadcast and TV networks, cinema chains and film production outfits and studios.
One of the main features of the expo will be the IFX Film Market which intends to establish the Philippines as a regional hub for filmmaking and to present Davao, with its lush tropical environs and bustling urban community as a potential location for international film shoots.
A series of symposia has been programmed and will cover the following topics: technological advances in moviemaking; location destinations for shooting; and film-related education, training and trends in Asia.
The FDCP explained that the IFX will also serve as the perfect venue for members of our local film community—filmmakers, crews, creatives, producers and the like—to showcase their works and their services to the world through film screenings, product presentations and demos.
The FDCP organizing team also aims to make the Philippines the trend-setter in the field of cinema by being in the forefront of the latest trends, developments and state-of-the-art technology in filmmaking.
