The 24th Film Academy Awards (called the Luna Awards since last year) will be held on September 16, 2006 (a Saturday) at the UP Film Center.
The FAP has awarded the rights to mount the awards presentation to the Eight Elephants Productions of Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista, members of the Kapisanan ng mga Artista ng Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon.
FAP Director General Leo G. Martinez said that this year’s awards will focus on the theme of reinforcing the bonds that hold together the members of the different guilds under the academy’s umbrella supervision.
The awards night presentation will also feature the eight UNESCO-declared heritage sites in the Philippines. thus conveying a Filipiniana motif to the affair. The gala night will be preponderant with indigenous Philippine dances, songs and costumes.
A delayed telecast of the event will be aired on RPN 9.
According to the concept paper submitted by Eight Elephants Productions, cocktails will be served at the main lobby of the UP Film Center. Special loot bags will be presented to all nominees and presentors.
Special prizes await winners in all the categories.
Specal prizes for the night will include Best Female in Filipiniana Gown, best Male in Filipiniana Outfit, Stars of the Night (male and female) and Faces of the Night (male and female).
As agreed upon, the FAP will assign a representative or representatives to coordinate with the EEP in the conceptualization of the Luna Awards proceedings, including the working script for the awards night. The Academy and EEP will create a publicity task force to take charge of the promotions and publicity of the 24th Luna Awards.
