DRIVE-IN MOVIE by Corie Henson  |  Posted in Articles  |  on Fri, Jan 13, 2012

The modern drive-in movie is an attempt to duplicate the original drive-in theaters of the olden time. As an alternative to the moviehouse and with the pirated dvd as the main target, the modern drive-in movie is worth
a try.

Gaya ng sabi ng mga 3D advocates, “it is not just the movie but the experience of watching.” In a drive-in movie, the mere experience of watching inside your vehicle is a unique experience especially for the young generation.

Matapos ang World War II (late 1940s) ay nauso sa America ang mga drive-in theaters. As the name implies, only those with cars were allowed entry. But due to popularity, the dating youths were enamored with the drive-in theater.

For those who do not know, the drive-in theater consisted of an outdoor screen installed on a large parking area. The movie is played inside the projection booth with the audio emitted by the speakers beside the screen.

Compared to the conventional moviehouse, revenue of drive-ins is very limited since movies can be shown only at night.

Meron ding mga drive-in theaters na nagbibigay ng baby-sitting services for those couples with kids.

In this computer age where almost anything is possible, it is not surprising to know that the drive-in movie is having a revival. The MOBMOV is short for Mobile Movie, ang makabagong drive-in movie.

And unlike in the old system, the MobMov employs a small projector fitted inside and powered by a car. For the audio, the sound system inside the car pipes out the sound via the FM radio in the cars of the audience.

Para sa mga gustong maging MobMov operator, all you have to do is search for a wide expanse which is quiet and safe.

After renting and securing the place, get a permit to operate before installing the equipment.

Pagdating sa audience, the MobMov operator should cultivate a network of people who are interested to experience the novelty of watching movies outdoor.

Syempre meron ding permit to operate.

And to overcome the expenses, the MobMov operator should seek sponsors which can be corporations or individuals who are willing to pitch in.

Another thing to be considered is the weather. Being an outdoor activity, hindi puwede ang drive-in movie kapag umuulan.

The MobMov is an alternative way of showing movies to the public. Perhaps the Film Development Council of the Philippines can explore this option.

The drive-in theater has a U.S. Patent 1909537 under the name of Richard Hollinghead, Jr. approved in New Jersey on May 16, 1933.
