Five full-length indie films and ten short films produced by students will
be featured in this year’s New Wave Film Section which be held before
the Metropolitan Manila Film Festival.
The New Wave Film Section will be held at the Robinson’s Galleria from December 17 to 21. The qualified entries were announced during the Executive Committee meeting of the MMFF-P at the conference room of MMDA Chairman Francis N. Tolentino last Monday, Dec. 5.
The five full-length films are:
–Dyagwar of Ogie Diaz and Sid Pascua for Ogied Productions
–Haruo of Adolf Alix, starring Rosanna Roces and Jacky Woo
–HIV of Neal Tan and MJ Baldemor
–Pintakasai of Imee Marcos and Nelson Caguilla
–Ritwal of Yeng Grande
The student short films are:
–Adivino /Asia Pacific Film Institute
–Bagong Ligo /Mapua Institute of Technology
–Biyahe ni Barbie /College of St. Benilde (School of Digital Arts)
–I See Everything /Southville International School (Las Pinas)
–Mate /Collegio de San Juan de Letran
–Oras /International Academy of Film & Television (Cebu)
–Payaso /De la Salle University (Lipa)
–Sanayan ang ang Pagpatay /Ateneo de Naga University
–Speechless /Mirriam College (Dept. of Communications)
–Ulan /La Consolacion College (Manila) and Pixel Art
Director Mark Meily, chairman of the Independent Film Section, said that 15 full-length and 18 short films were submitted.
He added that a number of short films were actually produced by high school students.
