WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) has organized a Training workshop on the Business Tools and Technical Applications of the WIPO Software for Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights (WIPOCOS).
The said workshop will be held in Singapore from November 21 to 25 at the WIPO Singapore Office. Invited representatives are from the societies of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
The objective of the workshop is to launch a comprehensive automation of collective management business tools so that member societies can build their databases of works in conformity with international standards.
The resulting database is to be used by the software application for the efficient distribution of royalties to the national and foreign rights holders according to the established norms.
Being the participating society of the Philippines, the PRSP (Performing Rights Society of the Philippines, Inc.) is sending John Lesaca and Alex Socorro to attend the technical workshop.
The training workshop is in cooperation with NORCODE (Norwegian Copyright Development Association).
