Eight former members of the board of directors of the Katipunan ng mga Artistang Pilipino sa Pelikula at Telebisyon (KAPPT) and seven newcomers were elected to the new board of the actors’ guild, according to the KAPPT last night (November 14).
The new board members are Rez Cortez, Baldo Marro, Dick Israel, Tirso Cruz III, Rey Solo, Nino Muhlach and Amay Bisaya. Those re-elected were Quezon City Vice-Mayor Herbert Bautista, Pagsanjan Mayor Jeorge ER Ejercito Estregan, Criz Daluz, Vic Felipe, Efren Reyes Jr., Lucy Quinto and Pamela Amor.
The elections were held at the Mowelfund Plaza last Saturday, November 12, where some 180 KAPPT members trooped to the polls to cast their ballots. The new board members, who will elect the officers among themselves, will serve for three years.
The outgoing president, actor-comedian-tv host German Moreno, served as KAPPT president since 1999. The next president to be elected by the winning board members will be the eighth president of the guild.
The former KAPPT presidents included Actor-Director Robert Arevalo, Actor-Director-Producer Fernando Poe Jr., Actor Paquito Diaz, Actor-Producer Rudy Fernandez, Actor Edu Manzano and Actor-Director-Producer Ronnie Ricketts.
A committee, composed of FAP Director General Leo Martinez, Director William Mayo, actors Ernie Zarate and Mat Ranillo III supervised the elections, held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There is no official word yet on where and when the new board will be electing the new officers of the actors’ organization.
