The screening of nominated films for the 2011 Luna Awards ended last Thursday, June 16. The event provided the voters with an ample bonding time in the UP theater for 10 days.
Director Jun Posadas pointed out that a good sound or music complements the dialogue. ”
For some other observations, Direk Jun asked how the character of Joem Bascon in Noy was able to go to the streets. Clearly, it was a directorial lapse.

Several directors were all praises for the acting of Lorna Tolentino in Sa ‘Yo Lamang and Claudine in In Your Eyes. And for Claudine, “Kuhang-kuha niya ang papel sa iyakan.”
“Itong Hating Kapatid, para talagang magkapatid sina Sarah at Juday kasi ang lalaki ng mukha nila,” film editor Rudy Tabotabo said in jest. Someone reminded the presence of character actor Bert Vivar in Fr. Jejemon. “Mayor dun si Bert, corrupt na mayor.”
Legman Domeng, who was an extra in Fr. Jejemon, said, “Ang daming cast. It’s really sad considering it is probably Dolphy’s last movie.

Asked why he was there, Dalawis replied, “Kasi dun sa dati kong puwesto merong naghihilik, ang lakas eh.”
Dalawis related the start of shooting of Asyong Salonga, a remake by Gov. ER Ejercito. “Sayang nga at hindi nakapasok sa festival,” he lamented while describing the set constructed in Pagsanjan to simulate a Tondo environment.
Production Designer Vic Dabao mentioned the importance of the bridge.” Joseph Estrada starred in the original version with Vic Diaz as Totoy Golem.

Director Bebong Osorio emphasized the importance of the set to the director. He had a movie where his mind was set to a funeral chapel of Nacional but the production manager insisted on Arlington.
During the heydays of the local movie, theaters would give an advance to the producers just so the new movie would be booked in that theater.
He also added that pirated copies of filmfest movies are out in the market a month after the festival period.

Ronnie Ricketts is the current chairman of OMB (Optical Media Board).
It is a puzzle why pirated dvds in Quiapo are being peddled at 20 pesos each or even 6 pieces for 100 pesos. A blank dvd costs around 16 pesos that includes the case. The piracy business is a marketing wonder.
Turning his head around, Bert Ortega commented, “Pakonti na tayo nang pakonti. Baka next year marami na namang nabawas sa atin, ha?” He was referring to the dwindling number of Luna Award voters.

“Sa totoo lang, lugi ka pa sa gasolina,” Direk Jun Posadas said of the daily allowance of 250 pesos for the voters. “Kaya hindi magka-interes yung iba kasi iniisip din nila siyempre yung gastos,” added Direk Bert Ortega.
Musical Director Jun Garlan suggested, “Sana next year, taasan naman. Siguro kung 500 ang allowance, baka maraming mag-participate.” That statement solicited positive remarks from everyone present.
Ernie Dela Cruz of Radio Veritas added, “Mas maganda pag last day na ganito, sana may konting pakulo like raffle.” Jun Garlan suggested a short program to give recognition to the oldtimers of the Academy.
As for the voting that was soon to start, everybody agreed for a wise voting.

The result of the voting will be known on July 10, during the awards night of the Luna Awards. It will be held in Quezon City Sports Club at E. Rodriguez St. Boulevad, Quezon City.
