Film festivals and special screenings overlap each other in a tight 16-day schedule that is expected to stir a flurry of viewing by local cineastes in Metro Manila.

A festival of Chinese films is slated at the Shangri-la Plaza from June 10 to 13 while the popular 3 rd Pink Film Festival is scheduled at the U.P. Film Institute from June 8 to 22. As if these two festivals are not enough, a film by Fil-Am Director Will Fredo will be viewed at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan on June 14.

The Chinese Film Festival 2005 will feature six films of six Chinese directors and is sponsored by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China, and the Shangri-la Plaza. Admission will be for free.

Hereunder is the lineup of the six films and their schedule of screenings:

Gada Melin, written and directed by Feng Xiaoning. Screenings: June 10 (7 p.m.), June 12 (2 p.m.) and June 13 (9:30 p.m.).

Nuan, directed by Huo Jiangqi. Screenings: June 10 (9:30 p.m.), June 12 (4:30 p.m.) and June 13 (7 p.m.).

Judge Mama, directed by Mu Deyuan. Screenings: June 11 (4:30 p.m.) and June 12 (9:30 p.m.).

Live in Peace, directed by Hu Bingliu. Screenings: June 11 (9:30 p.m.) and June 13 (4:30 p.m.).

The Story of Lotus, directed by Qi Jian. Screenings: June 11 (7 p.m.) and June 13 (2 p.m.)

Splendid Season, directed by Song Jiangbo. Screenings: June 11 (2 p.m.) and June 12 (7 p.m.).

The 3 rd Pink Film Festival will feature films from the Philippines, Spain, the United Kingdom and the USA.

Menawhile, Compound , a film by Will Fredo will be screened at the Music Museum at 7 o’clock p.m. on June 14. The film stars John Arcilla, Janet Russ, Jake Macapagal and Liza Dino. The cast also includes Joan C. Palisoc, Perry Escano, Lily Chu, Marq Dollentes, Samantha Zialcita, Amanda Virrey, Bong Cabrera, Eryk Tipgos, Sarah Rebueno, Regina Davin, Andrew Gordon and Claire Lee.
