The Film Development Council of the Philippines has approved P2.5 million in financial assistance for the 12th Cinemanila International Film Festival which will be held on Nov. 26 to December 4.
The 12th Cinemanila will be a nine-day event that will feature more than 50 critically acclaimed foreign films. Contemporary Filipino films will also compete in the international section while a separate competition, the Digital Lokal, will feature local digital films vying against each other.
The filmfest will also feature the Cinemanila Sine Barangay, a three-day event that will hold film appreciation workshops and a final day free outdoor screening.
This year, Quezon City will host the filmfest with Gateway and Trinoma providing the theaters for the exhibition of festival films.
Other highlights of the filmfest are:
–Young Cinema Night which involves the screening of short films of emerging young Filipino filmmakers.
–Embassy Night where embassies of the countries in focus will open their programs with a by-invitation-only cocktail reception followed by the film screening.
–Mayor’s Night in which the host city is celebrated through a party and reception.
–Gala Screenings of red carpet premiers of important Filipino films in the presence of the filmmakers and producers involved.
