The Optical Media Board is celebrating its 6TH anniversary with a month-long celebration that kicked off last Tuesday, February 2 at the Amoranto Sports Complex on Don Roces avenue.
New OMB Chairman Ronnie Ricketts reiterated the OMB’s commitment for an unrelenting anti-piracy drive to secure a level playing field for legitimate film producers and stakeholders.
The forerunner of the OMB was the Videogram Regulatory Board which was created by President Marcos on October 5, 1985 through Presidential Decree No. 1987.
In February, 2002, the Optical Media Bill superseded the Entertainment Medis Regulatory and Anti-piracy Bill.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law Republic Act 9239, the Optical Media Act of 2003 on February 10, 2004. Chairman Edu Manzano, the last VRB head, was the first OMB chairman.
