Voters for the Academy’s 27th Luna Awards will be reviewing a total of 19 films which received nominations for distinguished achievements for 2008.
Baler, produced by Viva Films, led in the most number of nominations garnered with 10. These are for best picture, direction (Mark Meily), lead actor (Jericho Rosales), lead actress (Anne Curtis), supporting actor (Philip Salvador), screenplay (Roy Iglesias), cinematography (Lee Meily), production design (Aped Santos), music (Vincent de Jesus) and sound (Ditoy Aguila).
Caregiver of Star Cinema has 9 nominations for best picture, direction (Chito Rono), lead actor (John Estrada), lead actress (Sharon Cuneta), supporting actor (Makisig Morales), screenplay (Chris Martinez), cinematography (Eli Balce), editing (Manet Dayrit) and music (Carmina Robles-Cuya).
Ploning of Panoramanila Pictures, Co. garnered 7 nominations for best picture, lead actress (Judy Ann Santos), screenplay (Dante Nico Garcia & Benjamin Lingan), cinematography (Charlie Peralta), production design (Raymund George Fenandez), music (Jesse Lasaten) and sound (Albert Michael Idioma).
Six nominations went to A Very Special Love of Star Cinema and Viva Films for best picture, direction (Cathy Garcia-Molina), lead actor (John Lloyd Cruz), supporting actor (Dante Rivero), production design (Nancy Arcega) and editing (Marya Ignacio).
Magkaibigan of Maverick Films Inc. has five nominations for best picture, direction (Jose Javier Reyes), lead actor (Christopher de Leon), supporting actress (Maricel Laxa) and sound (Ronald de Asis).
Three films got 4 nominations each. These are 100 of Martinez-Rivera Films (for lead actress Mylene Dizon, supporting actress Tessie Thomas, cinematographer Larry Manda and editor Ike Veneracion); Torotot of Viva Films (for best picture, director Maryo J. de los Reyes, lead actor Baron Geisler and editor Jess Navarro); and When Love Begins of Star Cinema & Viva Films (for lead actor Aga Muhlach, supporting actors Christopher de Leon and Ronaldo Valdez and sound man Albert Michael Idioma).
For the First Time of Star Cinema has three nominations for supporting actor Philip Salvador, supporting actress Candy Pangilinan and cinematographer Shayne Sarte, Two nominations each went to Concerto of Digital Spirit Films for screenplay (Paul Alexander Morales) and production design (Gerry Santos) and Endo of UFO Films for supporting actor (Ricky Davao) and screenplay (Jade Francis Castro, Michicko Yamamoto & Raymond Lee).
Eight films got a nomination each. These are: Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat of Star Cinema (actress Ai-Ai de las Alas); Ikaw pa Rin of Viva Films (supporting actress Eugene Domingo); I.T.A.L.Y. of GMA Films & Viva Fims (musical scorer Vincent de Jesus); Kulam of Regal Entertainment (musical scorer Von de Guzman); My Only You of Star Cinema (editor Marya Ignacio); One Night Only of OctoArts Films (sound men Albert Michael idioma & Addiss Tabong); One True Love of Regal Films & GMA Films (supporting actress Iza Calzado) and Serbis of Centerstage Productions & Swift Productions (production designers Benjamin Padero & Carlo Tabije).
