Filipino filmmakers are being invited to participate in the 3rd Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival (KLIFF) which will be held on November 5 to 8, this year.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has forwarded a letter to Film Academy Director General Leo G. Martinez extending the invitation of Abd Khalid Maulod, KLIFF festival director.
The Kuala Lumpur Filmfest is an annual event jointly organized by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and the Malaysian Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture. It aims “to further promote international friendship, world peace and impeccable tolerance”. This year’s theme is Celebrating Cultural Diversity.
Relevant portions of the letter of Abd Khalid Maulod read:
“In addition to the prestigious film festival event and awards presentation, KLIFF 2009 is also a showcase affair encompassing film symposia which focus on issues pertaining to co-production, film funding and financial resources, film distribution and publicity, film pitching, visual effects, latest filming techniques, etc.
KLIFF 2009 is intended to be the ‘one stop center’ for the industry players during the duration of the Business Matching program. The programs would run simultaneously with public and private film screenings of participants.”
Copies of the guidelines for entries and relevant forms are available at the Film Academy office at 108 OctoArts Buildng, Panay Avenue, Quezon City.
