“Feed my lambs, Feed my Sheep” – J 21:15 -19

Back in the year 1988, Director Danny Cabreira, Pons Barcelo, Celso de Guzman and Virgilio Bartolome initiated the founding of a religious support group. The main purpose was to haul a known movie star to the first Life in the Spirit Seminar. It was an attempt to liberate the movie star from his drug dependency.

Bro. Bo’s rebirth coincided with the birth of the Oasis of Love, the first and only Catholic charismatic group that caters to the mainstream showbiz circle. The charistmatic movement had gained ground due to sheer persistence in inviting new members from the entertainment sector. Since then Oasis had conducted 46 batches of converts and had gathered more than 5,000 members in its fold who shared the covenant, who gave and received affirmation and acceptance, joined the prayers and shared in the fellowships.

San Lorenzo Ruiz is the patron saint of Oasis. The bio-film of San Lorenzo Ruiz was supposed to be portrayed by Bro. Bo. but for some reasons the project did not push through. However, Christopher De Leon remains an avid leader and supporter of the Oasis of Love.

Another personality worth emulating is that of Bro. Rez Cortez. From his contravida roles, Bro. Rez exerted extra effort in converting and committing himself to the spirituality of an Oasis member. He is now an avid proponent and advocate of holistic fellowship.

As a landmark project, Oasis came up with The Oasis of Love Foundation headed by Bro. Rez Cortez. The Council of Elders is shepherded by Nita Trofeo and the Education Council is handled by Sandy Andolong and Candy Cortez.

Every Friday at 7 pm. the Camp Crame Chapel is abuzz with the lambs and sheep for the regular prayer meeting and fellowship. Being proactive, Oasis administers to the peers and friends of showbiz needing healing, spiritual guidance, vision, hope and provides a feeling of belonging. The fellowships provide an atmosphere of intimacy not unlike being in front of close friends or family. Problems are openly discussed. Solutions and remedies are generously shared. And camaraderie never fails to uplift one’s spirit.

The grand homecoming was recently held at the Camp Crame chapel. Seen were Bro. Bo De Leon and wife Sandy, Bro. Rez, Luz Valdez, Maryo J. Delos Reyes, Jackie Aquino, Beth Tamayo, Sylvia Sanchez and Giselle Sanchez who provided some fun. Also in attendance were the Film Academy’s Jesse Ejercito and SGP’s Buddy Palad.

“Let us be one in our praise and worship, and make our Family, a genuine Oasis… Of Love, Peace and Joy.”
