The House of Representatives’ committees on Public Information and Government Reorganization conduct today a joint meeting to deliberate on the possible creation of the Movie and Television Control Commission which will abolish the existing MTRCB.
Officials of the Film Academy of the Philippines, as well as the various guilds under its umbrella supervision, have been invited to attend the joint meeting.
The invitation was extended by Rep. Bienvenido M. Abante, Jr, Th. D., chairman of the Committee on Public Information.
The joint meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Conference Room 5 on the ground floor of the RVM Building, House of Representatives, Q.C.
The joint meeting will deliberate on the following measures:
–Draft Substitute Bill to House Bill No. 2294 entitled “An Act Creating The Movie And Television Control Commission, Abolishing The Movie And Television Review And Classification Board, And For Other Purposes,” authored by Rep. Bienvenido M. Abante Jr.;
–House Bill No. 3854 entitled “An Act Amending Presidential Decree No. 1986 Creating The Movie And Television Review And Classification Board,” authored by Rep. Rufus B. Rodriguez.
Rep. Abante sent updated electronic copy of a matrix of the above-mentioned bills at the FAP website, soliciting comments for the possible submission of a position paper re the updated matrix of the bills.
Abante said these inputs will help the committee in drafting a responsive legislation vis-à-vis movie and television review and classification.
