The board of governors of the Film Academy of the Philippines passed a resolution to express its appreciation and gratitude, in behalf of the movie workers, to Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri for his generous P2.5 million support to the scholarship program of the Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

A Resolution Thanking Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri for the Fund Assistance to the Projects of the Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng Pelikulang Pilipino (NMPP) Benefiting Film Workers
WHEREAS the Board of Governors (BOG) of the Film Academy of the Philippines in its regular board meeting last September 30, 2008, was apprised of the fund assistance extended by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri to the Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng Pelikulang Pilipino (NMPP), a private organization which aims to create benefits for the local film workers;
WHEREAS the presidents of the technical and creative guilds represented in the BOG are themselves active participants of the NMPP together with film workers who are also their guild members;
WHEREAS the fund assistance from Senator Zubiri is being used to implement NMPP’s scholarship program for not only NMPP members but their immediate families as well, providing them educational opportunities that are otherwise rare to come into in a local film industry that is encountering its own difficulties;
WHEREAS the fund assistance also makes possible the implementation of other projects that benefit the formal and informal film workers and their families creating avenue for the improvement of their quality of life;
WHEREAS all benefits created by these projects redound to a better community of film workers which effort is also FAP’s concern;
NOW THEREFORE, WE, the members of the FAP board of Governors, together with the film workers from the Filipino Film Industry, hereby express appreciation and gratitude to Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri for his generous support to NMPP members and the film workers in general.
